Quality Control

In recognition of increasing competitiveness and increasing level of satisfaction, NCI attaches great importance to quality control principles and as a matter of policy supplies only Quality products that meet National/International standards and specifications. Quality checks and quality control mechanism is in-built in the system at NCI and starts before the cables are taken-up for manufacture. Quality control department at NCI is sub-divided into 3 major sections in-coming raw material section, in-process inspection section and final testing section.

Low Voltage Test Field

A separate low voltage test field is maintained to cater to the needs of routine tests on low voltage cables. The only way out for delivery drums to shipping yard is through routine test fields. 100% of the drums are routine tested as per IEC/BS standards as applicable. Only after the drums are routine tested and test results entered in ERP system, QC is able to print the final tag from BaaN ERP system. Results of routine tests recorded in the database facilitate extraction of test certificates at any point of time without human intervention.

Material Test Laboratory

Raw material is procured from renowned ISO 9001 certified suppliers who are in the main stream and are supplying material to reputed cable manufactures in the world. The trial material is tested and approved before supplier inclusion in NCI approved vendor list. Approved suppliers are to supply raw material against documented technical terms of delivery. For commercial supplies. samples from each consignment are tested before accepting material into NCI warehouse.

Medium Voltage Test Field

A separate Medium voltage test field is maintained to cater to the needs of routine tests on medium voltage cables. High voltage tests, Partial discharge tests, Conductor resistance measurement and Armour resistance measurements are performed on 100% of the manufactured drums as per applicable standards. Similar to low voltage cables, only after the test results are entered in BaaN ERP system, QC is able to print the final tag from BaaN ERP system. Results of routine tests recorded in the database to facilitate extraction of test certificates at any point of time without human intervention. A perfect traceability mechanism is adopted which can track test results, personnel, material, date and time of production processes.
